10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Intersection of Connecticut Avenue and K Street, NW

WHY: The constructed median provides green space that serves as a landing area for pedestrians crossing the broad and bustling Connecticut Avenue as well as an aesthetic improvement for the prominent boulevard.

Construction is complete and landscaping has been installed on the stretch of Connecticut Avenue between K and L Streets that comprises the first section of the project. The final project, expected to be completed in the spring of 2014, will extend the constructed median and landscaping to Jefferson Place, just south of Dupont Circle.

The BID is also focused on growing its retail offerings. The launch of a retail strategy is underway with a report expected in October. The strategy includes the addition of a dedicated retail recruiter to the BID staff.
