Golden Triangle Launches New Brand Look
Washington, D.C. [Sept 16, 2008] – Keep an eye out this week for changes from the White House to Dupont Circle and 16th to 21st Streets as the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) recreates the look of its streets.
In the air, on the ground, online and everywhere else, the look of the Golden Triangle BID will change. The Golden Triangle Ambassadors, who clean the streets and give directions, will still be roaming the BID’s 42 blocks, they’ll just look different. The trash cans they empty will have a call to action that encourages area workers to keep the streets golden, and the streetlights will be brighter than ever before with five vibrant banner designs that will bring K Street and Connecticut Avenue to life like never before.
“We have a commitment to keeping the area clean and safe and now we are stepping it up to keep the area golden unlike anything we’ve done before,” Executive Director Leona Agouridis said. “This new brand identity is a better representation of the Golden Triangle neighborhood and the amazing convergence of people, power, and ideas in this area.”
The new logo, created by the award-winning firm Design Army, represents the BID’s ongoing promise to enhance and promote the central business district. “Our research during the branding process revealed that many people thought of this area as business-only and didn’t credit us for the huge number of award-winning restaurants, high-end retail shops, and cutting-edge nightlife that is within the Golden Triangle,“ Agouridis continued. “This new look for the BID is one of the ways we will combat these stereotypes and reflect the cosmopolitan atmosphere that exists here.”
Future development of a new ad campaign with the updated brand identity will strive to build awareness of the area and create new associations among visitors, area residents, and workers.
“This area is really like a Geographical Blackberry. The 75,000 people who work here are connected, educated, creative, and innovative. We want to reflect their characteristics in our communications and our new brand look is making that possible,” Agouridis said.
