June 2 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

It’s opening night at the Golden Cinema! Enjoy a free screening of Oscar-nominated “Hidden Figures” with special guests bringing space exploration right to Farragut Park.

NASA’s Chief Historian, Dr. William Barry, will be around before the movie to teach everyone about the real women behind the movie. Attendees will also be able to view the stars with telescopes, courtesy of our friends from American Astronomical Society, who will be on hand to help.

Golden Cinema is a free 10-week-long outdoor movie series that is hosted by the Golden Triangle BID. Every Friday beginning June 2 and running to August 4, everyone is invited to enjoy free movies in Farragut Park. Since its inception in 2013, the number of movie-goers has grown — hundreds of people attend each movie under the stars.

Movies begin at sunset as the concluding event of the Farragut Friday event series, which includes an outdoor office space, picnics in Farragut Park, lawn games, and table tennis competitions. This event series provides lively entertainment and activities in Farragut Park from 9 a.m. through the conclusion of Golden Cinema around 11 p.m.

Mark your calendar and join neighbors under the stars for a night of entertaining movies and activities. Make a night of it and plan to take advantage of the array of restaurants and retailers in the neighborhood – shopping, dining, and a movie make a great way to spend an evening in the Golden Triangle. So, get your friends and co-workers, and get ready to enjoy another summer of Golden Cinema.
