Golden Triangle BID’s 2019 Summer Movie Series Features Hollywood Blockbusters, Family Favorites

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 7, 2019) – The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) is bringing back its free outdoor movie series, “Golden Cinema,” this summer. Movies will be shown at sunset each Friday beginning June 2 and running through August 2 in Farragut Square. The film series will premiere with the blockbuster hit Crazy Rich Asians.

This is the seventh season of the Golden Cinema summer movie program. This year’s line up is based on the results of a survey conducted by the Golden Triangle BID. Pursuant to National Park Service regulations, all movies are G, PG, or PG-13.

“Golden Cinema is a fun event that brings families, friends and co-workers together for a relaxing evening or a date night, to watch movie favorites under the stars in the iconic setting of Farragut Square,” said Leona Agouridis, Golden Triangle BID Executive Director. “It’s a great way to unwind at the end of a long work week and to kick off a summer weekend. We are always thrilled to welcome hundreds of movie fans to enjoy these special evenings with us.”

This year’s Golden Cinema schedule is as follows:

June 7 – Crazy Rich Asians (PG-13)
June 14 – A Dog’s Way Home (PG)
June 21 – Won’t You Be My Neighbor? (PG-13)
June 28 – Ocean’s 8 (PG-13)
July 12 – Mary Poppins Returns (PG)
July 19 – Incredibles 2 (PG)
July 26 – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (PG-13)
August 2 – Wonder Woman (PG-13)

A rain date is held for August 9, if needed. No movie is shown on July 5.

Located in the heart of the Golden Triangle neighborhood, Farragut Square is easily accessible by public transportation (Farragut North station – Metro Red Line; Farragut West station – Metro Blue Line, Orange Line, and Silver Line; Buses – 38B, 52, S2).
