Heurich House Christmas Markt

Heurich House Christmas Markt
December 6-13
1307 New Hampshire Ave NW

Each December, the Heurich House Museum, curates DC’s only multi-day holiday market consisting of ALL local makers. For the first time ever in its 12 year history, this year’s Christmas Markt will be held for an entire week from Friday, December 6th to Friday, December 13th.

Stroll through the museum’s “Castle Garden” with a beverage and bite in hand, and find the perfect holiday gifts for your loved ones from 60+ local small-scale artisan makers, and more. This festive outdoor event features truly local vendors, with neighborhood establishments like DC Sweet Potato Cake on December 8, and Fava Pot from December 10–13. You’ll even get access to exclusive discounts at various Golden Triangle businesses throughout the week—see the full list of discounts, here.

In anticipation of the Markt, dive into Heurich’s Maker Month—a month-long celebration of local craft starting November 15th. Attend maker-led workshops, a discussion on art & design in historic spaces, house tours and more, leading up to the holiday event.

DID YOU KNOW?

The Christmas Markt is DC’s longest running and largest incubator of local small-scale manufacturers. Over 1,000 local makers have utilized the markt as an important growth point in their business’s trajectory. Christmas Markt proceeds fund a year of activities for the museum’s Urban Manufacturing Incubator program.

In 2024 the Heurich Urban Manufacturing Incubator:

  • Helped found and manage the new DC Makers’ Guild, unifying over 100 local small makers to create a business environment which allows the industry to continue to grow and flourish.
  • Hosted markets at no cost to maker vendors, and planned a series of free educational programs for new makers, supporting the stability of over 100 businesses.
  • Created new revenue generating opportunities for makers by allowing them to utilize the museum to host workshops with the public.
  • Supported a full-time Incubator Program Director.

The Museum’s Urban Manufacturer Incubator program builds upon the 130 year legacy of craftspeople and makers at the Heurich House – those who designed, built, and decorated the historic home, and those who the museum has helped to elevate over the last decade.
