Cleaning & Maintenance

The Golden Triangle BID provides a Gold Standard of service

The Golden Triangle BID’s primary operations include the Ambassador program, clean street initiatives, and landscaping efforts. These result in a beautiful and safe neighborhood year-round. The BID’s work is complemented by partnerships with building owners and city agencies.

Golden Triangle Ambassadors

The Golden Triangle BID delivers enhanced maintenance services through the hard work of Golden Triangle Ambassadors. With more than 90,000 area workers and thousands of visitors a day, the Golden Triangle Ambassadors are busy cleaning the neighborhood’s public spaces, parks, and street amenities. This team of Ambassadors welcomes visitors, creates a sense of safety, and keeps neighborhood streets clean and golden.

The visibility of this team of high-energy Ambassadors is a reminder of the BID’s commitment to the neighborhood. The primary responsibilities of the Golden Triangle Ambassadors include:

  • Trash, litter, and recycling pick-up (collecting approximately 50,000 bags per year)
  • Cleaning curb lines with all-terrain litter vacuums (ATLVs)
  • Emptying trashcans, recycling bins, and ash urns
  • Graffiti and sticker removal
  • Cleaning debris from Metro and utility grates in the sidewalks
  • Monitoring and reporting traffic concerns and unusual activity

Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, the Ambassadors are also responsible for:

  • Watering, weeding, mulching, and pruning various landscapes
  • Power washing Metro entrances, sidewalks, National Park areas, and member sidewalks
  • Event set-up for Golden Triangle events
  • Touch-up painting
  • Leaf removal

In the winter, Ambassadors are critical to making the Golden Triangle neighborhood a safe place for pedestrians by:

  • Treating curb cuts with ice melt
  • Clearing catch basins to prevent pooling when snow melts
  • Shoveling curb cuts
  • Using snow brushes and blowers to remove snow from Metro entrances and highly trafficked sidewalks
  • Monitoring bus shelters to make sure they are cleared by the city
  • Partnering with the city and National Park Service to ensure proper snow removal and safe passage for pedestrians
