Golden Cinema is a free 10 week long outdoor movie series that is hosted by the Golden Triangle BID. Every Friday beginning early June and running through the beginning of August, everyone is invited to enjoy free movies in Farragut Park. Since its inception in 2013, the number of movie-goers has grown — hundreds of people attend each movie under the stars.
Movies begin at sunset as the concluding event of the Farragut Fridays event series, which includes an outdoor office space, picnics in Farragut Park, lawn games, and table tennis competitions. This event series provides lively entertainment and activities in Farragut Park from 9 a.m. through the conclusion of Golden Cinema around 11 p.m.
On June 1, Golden Cinema kicks off another season:
June 1 – The Post (Featuring a special pre-movie talk by former Washington Post Executive Editor Leonard Downie, who was a consultant on the film.)
June 8 – The Devil Wears Prada
June 15 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
June 22 – La La Land
June 29 – Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Mark your calendar and join hundreds under the stars for a night of entertaining movies and activities. Make a night of it and plan to take advantage of the array of restaurants and retailers in the neighborhood – shopping, dining, and a movie make a great way to spend an evening in the Golden Triangle. So, get your friends and co-workers, and get ready to enjoy another summer of Golden Cinema.
