Golden Triangle BID Announces #GoldenTriangleDCStrong Campaign to Support Small Businesses

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 7, 2020) –The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) announced a new video campaign, Golden Triangle DC Strong (#GoldenTriangleDCStrong), showcasing restaurants, retail stores, hotels, and fitness clubs in the BID. The videos will be featured across the BID’s social media channels and its website, celebrating everyday moments and offering smart and simple solutions to enrich people’s daily lives.

“Small, independently owned businesses are very important to the Golden Triangle. They help make the neighborhood unique and without them, the central business district would not be the same,” said Leona Agouridis, Executive Director of the Golden Triangle BID. “This video campaign will showcase our small businesses by putting faces to the names and highlight that together, we are #GoldenTriangleDCStrong.”

Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, the BID has been working closely with its members to connect them with necessary resources and information while serving as a key liaison to many city and federal agencies. With its Board, the BID is intently focused on initiatives such as #GoldenTriangleDCStrong that strengthen and support its members in today’s unprecedented business environment.

In addition to the video campaign, the BID will launch two other initiatives to support Golden Triangle businesses. The first program, WINDOWS by Golden Triangle, will place artwork created by local artists in vacant storefronts to beautify and activate ground floor spaces and to bring positive attention to spaces for lease. Artists are invited to submit their proposals for artwork by May 8 via an online submission portal. The other program, Small Business Online, will help local brick-and-mortar businesses build and enhance their digital presence through an online training program and personalized assistance to individual business owners. Companies interested in partnering with the Golden Triangle to provide training can find more information here and should submit their proposal by May 13.

The #GoldenTriangleDCStrong campaign will kick off today with How to Make an Avocado Tartine presented by Nicolas Legret, Chef de Cuisine at The Hay-Adams Hotel. The following video features are scheduled for the coming weeks:

  • Week of May 11: Staying Healthy and Active at Home with Maddie Watkins, Founder and Chief Barbell Officer, 202Strong
  • Week of May 18: How to Clean Out Your Closet & New Fashion Trends with Betsy Fisher, owner of Betsy Fisher
  • Week of May 25: How to Make Bub & Pop’s World Famous Potato Chips with Jon Taub, Chef, Bub & Pop’s

The videos will be released on the Golden Triangle’s Instagram channel and will also live on the BID’s website.
