Golden Triangle Business Improvement District Launches Windows by Golden Triangle

Washington, DC (July 20, 2020) — The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) announces Windows by Golden Triangle, a new initiative that brings public art to windows and store fronts in DC’s central business district. Five artworks are currently on display and additional installations are planned for the coming months, injecting the neighborhood with artistry and creativity.

Part of the Golden Triangle BID’s COVID-19 response and recovery efforts, Windows by Golden Triangle was developed to respond to vacant windows during the coronavirus pandemic and to beautify buildings. Following an open call to artists and a review of more than 150 submissions, nine local artists hailing from DC, Maryland, and Virginia were selected to participate in this project.

Windows by Golden Triangle installations currently on display:

  • Adrienne Gaither’s How I Got Over installed at The Hay-Adams Hotel located at 800 16th Street NW;
  • Steve Alfaro’s Joy, Hope, Love, Community installed at 1900 M Street NW;
  • Hedieh Javanshir Ilchi’s Of time past and time future installed at The Mayflower Hotel located at 1127 Connecticut Avenue NW;
  • Shyama Kuver’s The Gardener and Sea installed at 1634 I Street NW; and
  • Carlos Carmonamedina’s DC Is My City installed at 1875 Pennsylvania Avenue NW

Artworks from Katherine Becker, Nikki Painter, Kim Sandara, and James S. Terrell have been selected as well and will be installed in locations across the Golden Triangle neighborhood over the coming months.

“We are excited to bring this new initiative to our neighborhood,” said Leona Agouridis, Executive Director of the Golden Triangle BID. “We hope these amazing artworks will help to inspire and uplift the Golden Triangle community.”
