DC Pop-Up in the Golden Triangle Opens Showcasing Local Makers for Holiday Shopping

One-Stop-Shop Offers Unique Mix of Locally Curated Products

Washington, DC (Dec. 4, 2025) — The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID)  and the District Department of Small and Local Businesses (DSLBD) today announced the opening of the DC Pop-Up in the Golden Triangle at 1330 Connecticut Avenue NW, just south of Dupont Circle and easily walkable from both the Heurich House Christmas Markt and DC Holiday Market at Dupont Circle. The pop-up shop is a collective featuring a wide variety of products from 10+ local businesses, many of which are minority, woman-owned, and Made in DC Certified.

This opening of the DC Pop-Up marks a return to the Golden Triangle by entrepreneur and owner Rahama Wright. Made possible in part by grant funding through DSLBD, Wright first opened DC Pop-Up in the Golden Triangle centered around her line of  Shea Yeleen beauty products from August 2021 through July 2022.

“We are thrilled to work with DSLBD and the Golden Triangle to highlight local makers and share the creativity and culture DC entrepreneurs have to offer,” said Wright. “Over the course of the pop up we will feature 40+ entrepreneurs creating a variety of giftable items including apparel, jewelry, beauty, home goods, and more!”

A DSLBD grant enables Wright to lease the 1,700 square foot space at 1330 Connecticut Avenue NW from property owner BXP. Operating as a collective business model, Wright has designed the space for many different local makers to sell unique products and host special events.

“This is a season when our makers really shine, and DSLBD is proud to lift them through the DC Pop-Up in the Golden Triangle,” said DSLBD Director Rosemary Suggs-Evans. “Mayor Bowser has been clear that small and local businesses are essential to DC’s economy. When people shop local during the holidays, they’re supporting our entrepreneurs, strengthening our corridors, and helping our city continue to grow.”

As a collective, the DC Pop-Up in the Golden Triangle brings together DMV-based entrepreneurs and creates a one-stop shop for buying gifts. The store gives local entrepreneurs like Katrina Norman, Founder & Creative of The Beautiful Brown Rainbow, access to a brick-and-mortal retail space and a larger customer base.

“Being a DC Maker means creating with a purpose, community, and culture at the center of creativity while operating from my home-based business. Access to a dedicated retail space would allow me to gain more exposure for my products, expand my handcrafted production, and finally free up much needed space in my home,” said Norman.

“We know many shoppers make it a priority to support local businesses during the holiday season,” said Leona Agouridis, President of the Golden Triangle BID. “With a mix of new and longtime shops, restaurants, and art, the Golden Triangle is an inviting place to shop, dine, and explore.”

The Golden Triangle has 400+ shops and restaurants across its 171-block-area of DC’s downtown. This new pop-up is another way the Golden Triangle is activating the neighborhood. Through January, the Golden Triangle is presenting Art Ave, a free, immersive art experience made possible by DC’s Office of Planning Streets for People grant program. Art Ave features 13 large, outdoor sculptures that illuminate at dusk, and window artworks spanning three blocks from Lafayette Park, through iconic Farragut Square and along the 1000 block of Connecticut Avenue NW—giving visitors another reason to head downtown for the holiday season.
