Golden Triangle BID’s 2020 Summer Movie Series Features Hollywood Blockbusters, Family Favorites

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 6, 2020) – The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) is bringing back its free outdoor movie series, Golden Cinema, in the summer of 2020. Movies will be shown at sunset each Friday beginning June 5 and running through July 31 in Farragut Square. The film series will premiere with the new, 2019 remake of The Lion King.

This is the eighth season of the Golden Cinema summer movie program and as in years past, this year’s line up is based on the results of a survey conducted by the Golden Triangle BID. Pursuant to National Park Service regulations, all movies are G, PG, or PG-13.

“Golden Cinema is a wonderful event that brings families, friends and co-workers together for a relaxing evening or a date night, to watch movie favorites under the stars in the iconic setting of Farragut Square,”  said Leona Agouridis, Golden Triangle BID Executive Director. “It’s a great way to relax after a busy work week and start a summer weekend. We are always thrilled to welcome hundreds of movie fans to enjoy these special evenings with us.”

This year’s Golden Cinema schedule is as follows:

  • June 5 — The Lion King (2019) (PG)
  • June 12 — Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) (PG-13)
  • June 19 — Dolittle (2020) (PG)
  • June 26 — Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) (PG-13)

  • July 24 — Little Women (2019) (PG)
  • July 31 — Avengers: Endgame (2019) (PG-13)

A rain date is held for August 7, if needed. No movie will be shown on July 3.
