Joint Statement from Golden Triangle BID Executive Director Leona Agouridis and DowntownDC BID President & CEO Neil Albert:

“We stand united with Mayor Muriel Bowser in supporting today’s visual demonstration as well as the many demonstrators here in our nation’s capital who have been exercising their rights in the neighborhoods we have helped manage, fund, grow, support and protect.

The Golden Triangle and DowntownDC Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), have long served as the stage for significant moments of our nation’s history. We are neighborhoods that welcome all to exercise their First Amendment rights.”

Formed in 1998, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) enhances Washington, DC’s central business district, the 44-square-block neighborhood stretching from The White House to Dupont Circle. Home to roughly 6,000 businesses, the BID provides a clean, safe, and vibrant environment for hundreds of thousands of workers, residents, and visitors, and encourages economic development through capital projects, public art, sustainability, and events. The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) was founded in 1997 and is a private non-profit organization that provides capital improvements, resources and research that keep the BID area clean, safe, economically and environmentally strong and accessible. The DowntownDC BID is a catalyst, facilitator and thought leader in diversifying the economy, promoting public/private partnerships and enhancing the DowntownDC experience for all. This special district, where property owners have agreed to tax themselves to fund services, encompasses a 138-block area of approximately 520 properties from Massachusetts Avenue on the north to Constitution Avenue on the south, and from Louisiana Avenue on the east to 16th Street on the west.
